Experience a property like no other in Bretton Woods. Nestled amidst National Forest and the Ammonoosuc River, this 32-acre park boasts diverse habitats, hosting a range of wildlife such as Brown Bears, Moose, Snowshoe Hares, Beavers, White-Tailed Deer, and even stealthy Bobcats. The property also serves as a haven for countless bird species, particularly in the open “Brooks Field” area, one of only 3 open areas maintained by the National Forest Service in New Hampshire to nurture nesting grounds. With its unique mix of forests, wetlands, ponds, streams and almost a mile of river frontage, this stunning land is the perfect backdrop for 4 amazing homes, each very different from the other.

Many of our guests rave that this is the most incredible place they have ever visited, and we can see why. Aside from the incredible natural features, you can spend days doing what you like to do the most. For those who like to relax, enjoy the outdoor facilities of each cabin, take a leisurely stroll, or simply grab a book and sit by the fire – each unit has its own fireplace or wood stove to enjoy. For the more adventurous, you can pick from a variety of on-site activities – from walking the well maintained paths to tubing on the river to swimming in the swimming hole or fishing on the bountiful Ammonoosuc River, to all the activities that the area has to offer, such as both cross-country and alpine skiing (the top-rated Bretton Woods Ski Area is just 2 minutes away), to snowmobiling, zip lining, ATV tours, and so much more! And of course, all the local attractions are a short drive away – from Santa’s Village and Storyland to Franconia Notch, Whale’s Tale Waterpark, to the Ice Castles and countless other activities for your White Mountains vacations – year round!

In the winter, enjoy unparalleled scenery with the snow plastering the thick pine trees that dot the property (did you know? Bretton Woods receives more snowfall than most other ski areas in New England, and is consistently rated #1 for snow quality!) At the end of winter, things get really sweet – you can watch us make maple syrup right on property! In the Spring, enjoy lower rates and beautiful hikes, stunning waterfalls, and great scenery as the greening valley contrasts with the mountains around us (and of course, this is also the best time to see the elusive moose!). Summer is heralded by a flurry of fireflies – the sight of the wetlands lighting up with these unique creatures is just stunning at night, followed by blooms of all sorts, and of course the ability to enjoy the outdoor spaces that these homes provided. Each home has a hot tub (except West Mountain Lodge, available on a limited basis, where we are working on installing a Swim Spa!), fire pit, grills, and Moose Lodge even has an outdoor kitchen setup. Some of our summer guests find so much enjoyment that they never really leave the property – but we don’t encourage that, there is SO MUCH to see around the Moose Lodge and Cabins! The western side of the property features wetlands, graced by meandering creeks and vernal pools teeming with tadpoles and salamanders. In early summer, enchanting displays of fireflies illuminate these wet areas during their captivating mating rituals. For those seeking the majestic Moose, the prime location lies near the gate along 302, renowned as one of New England’s premier moose-viewing spots. Optimal moose sightings occur in cooler seasons or during the cooler hours of dawn and dusk, as they prefer the shelter of woods and higher ground in winter.

Our Exceptional Properties

West Mountain Lodge

West Mountain Lodge is a unique property that captures the essence of Western ski lodges with its grandeur. Crafted from Idaho’s Douglas Fir, this home boasts stunning stonework and colossal 18″ logs, exuding a sense of awe. Enormous Southern-facing windows flood the interior with light, showcasing the splendid landscape. The surroundings, seamlessly blending with the National Forest, offer access to trails, beaches, and exceptional wildlife watching.

Step inside to discover intricate details like custom cubbies and a tropical fish tank leading to an open living space. The gourmet kitchen features dual ovens, a smart fridge, and live-edge wood countertops made from local pine. The cozy sectional and stone-heating fireplace provide comfort, while the dining area accommodates 6-7 guests with extra seating at the breakfast counter. The master suite on the main level features a majestic timber King bed, radiant floor heating, a 2-person Jacuzzi tub, and a stone shower.

Upstairs, find kid-friendly rooms, a full bathroom, and a loft office. The lower level houses themed guest rooms, a family room with games, and a full bathroom. Beyond the interior, the outdoor experience is unmatched. Three outdoor dining options include a deck with forest views, a covered porch, a patio with a koi pond, a waterfall, and an outdoor fireplace/grill. Moose Lodge

Unveil the grandeur of Moose Lodge, a spacious haven designed to accommodate gatherings of all sizes. Ideal for rustic weddings, family reunions, or group getaways, this lodge boasts ample space, modern amenities, and a sense of camaraderie that’s second to none. From daytime festivities to starlit bonfires, Moose Lodge sets the stage for unforgettable shared experiences.

Although you are surrounded by the simplicity of nature, you can get spoiled by the special amenities this home has to offer including a deep 5-person hot tub on the deck, gas stove, AC, Jacuzzi tub in the master bedroom, and a lower level with an additional kitchen, foosball and pool table. There is a full-sized kitchen with a secondary living space off the main entrance and another living room downstairs with a large TV – great to keep the kids entertained while the adults hang out.

And don’t forget to take in the views of the mountains, with a stunning deck overlooking a protected bird nesting area of the White Mountains National Forest and the Presidentials Range, including a direct view of the top of Mount Washington and its famous observatory. The outdoor living area is a perfect spot for the family; gather around the fire pit after a long day of skiing or hiking, or host the rustic wedding of your dreams! Although only minutes away from skiing, restaurants, and adventurous activities Bretton Woods has to offer, you are in a world of your own at this mountain retreat!

Bear Cabin

Embrace the warmth of a classic cabin escape at Bear Cabin. Tucked away amidst towering trees, this charming abode beckons you to unwind and disconnect from the hustle and bustle. Cozy up by the fireplace, share stories under the starlit sky, and relish in the serenity that only nature can provide.

This fairy tale cabin embodies the quintessential getaway in an incredible and unique setting. The traditional log cabin design mixes old-fashioned elements with modern comforts including central AC! Step outside to find a gorgeous masonry firepit, our very own beach unaffected by crowds and restrictions, and beautiful landscapes! New for the 2022-23 season, a 25×45 ice skating rink and a hot tub!

The cabin, with 9-bed spaces, is bear-themed, and the craftsmanship is outstanding! A soapstone wood stove adds to the cozy factor on those cold winter nights. We have been busy cutting new trails, giving easy walking access to some stunning ecological areas of the property, from wetlands and ponds to riverfront walks. Enjoy outdoor dining thanks to the comfortable dining set with sectional seating or sit on the deck and watch for our resident bald eagle flying by. You will feel like you are away from it all, but still in the heart of everything Bretton Woods has to offer including views of the West Mountain ski trails.

Owl’s Roost

Nestled in the heart of the wilderness, Owl’s Roost invites you to discover the allure of a true woodland yurt. Immerse yourself in nature’s symphony, as you awake to the melodies of chirping birds and rustling leaves. This cozy retreat offers the perfect balance between seclusion and comfort, allowing you to reconnect with your surroundings and find solace in simplicity.

This one-of-the-kind yurt-style home is centered around a stunningly unique central spiral staircase carved around a dead tree with its roots showing in the center. The staircase gives access to the top floor, where you will find a cozy master bedroom. The open balcony-style loft area includes a full-size bed and the main level features two additional bedrooms and another bathroom, plus an open-concept kitchen/dining/living room. The living room features a cozy soapstone wood stove (firewood provided in the winter months), and a large wall-mounted TV.

Don’t forget the large deck, with grill, table, umbrella, and even a couple of rocking chairs to chill and soak in the views, plus a gorgeous stone patio with a stone firepit to make memories by the fire and wonder at the multitude of stars or the fireflies that grace us in the early summer months! Plus, you will have access to all the amazing features of the Moose Lodge and Cabins from wetlands and ponds to riverfront walks. This is a true memory maker!
